Learning a new healthcare system can be difficult, especially when you are also settling into a new city or country. Anuvi provides family medicine for newcomers and refugees and can help patients understand how to access ongoing care in Alberta.
Bring any medical information you have, even if it is from outside Canada. Please bring your Alberta health card or other health coverage documents, photo identification, a medication list or the original containers, immunization records, important medical reports, immigration or refugee health documents relevant to coverage, and the name of your pharmacy if you have one. Translated medical summaries are helpful for complex conditions, but you should not delay necessary care because your documents are not translated.
Appointments are available in English, Spanish and Farsi with participating physicians, and availability depends on the physician and appointment time. Tell us when booking which language you prefer; we can also discuss interpretation options when direct care in your language is unavailable.
Medically necessary physician care is generally covered for eligible patients with valid AHCIP coverage. Some refugees and refugee claimants may have coverage through the Interim Federal Health Program; tell us which documents you have when booking. Patients without active coverage may be responsible for the cost of care, and we will explain any expected fee before a non-emergency visit.
